Sennheiser Massdrop HD6XX Afternoon Yak Devolved into Shitposts

I have been there. I had to sell so much gear to generate some cash-flow that I almost thought about quitting this hobby. But I could not. Without music I would do stupid things with my life...

 

I understand that, music is one the things that helps me keep my sanity when stress is almost overwhelming and can keep me calm for a good period of time.

 

Having sold the 650 recently might not be such a bad thing depending on the announcement and what unfolds. It wont be long now to find out.

Yes, that's very true for a lot of us, I suspect. Stillness, repose, and almost meditative concentration on the music is weirdly powerful. I used to do that a lot as a teenager, earbuds in, lying in the dark- it made the world a lot less oppressive. I got out of the habit of listening actively and with my full attention. Spending time getting into decent audio has restored that habit, and I'm realising that I was missing it all this time. It's not about the dickwaving, and having bigger and better than person X, it's about being able to lose yourself in your own listening.

Still, here's to affordable 650s, so people can have good sound when they can't afford to spend a fortune!

Lowest prices I have seen:

• New: HD650 ($275-300); HD600 ($225-250, the latter being the AMZN gift card deal). Lowest prices have been after mail-in rebate.
• Used: HD650 ($250-275); HD600 ($190-225)

Keep in mind those are lowest, not typical, new and used prices. The headphones hold their value, and we see more frequent sale prices from authorized retailers, but MSRP is the same it's always been.

 

Is 200$ still the price for this exclusive HP?

 

Me either. Unless is was just a completely ratted out pair. When the 650 first came out and I lusted for it without the funds to buy it, a guy said that he walked into a thrift store and picked up a like new pair for $20, still in the box.

 

I believe the announcement will be made at 10am American Time. Not sure which region. Everything so far is pure speculation and ideal world fantasy dream land posting.

They could be 500 bucks and made of carbon fibre with a bluetooth homing beacon which lets you know where they are at any moment.

Gear hunting is intensive, sometimes you get great deals. Years of gear hunting for photography and audio hone that skill.

 

I bought mine on ebay, i had to replace pads and headband more as a matter of hygiene than anything else. They are the black ones.

Edit - they were in good condition but they were unboxed and the seller sent the wrong adapter, afterwards he sent the right one.

 

Upshot: This event, if even remotely close to expectations, will send several used-but-well-maintained HD600 and HD650 into the market, at probably their lowest prices. If I do auto-buy the teased unit, I would almost certainly sell my HD650m for gonzo cheap (after the unicorn arrives).
