Well, looks like the price is the real story here. I paid $100 more for a used pair in the past. I'll need to see the color in person to make a judgement. Was hoping for black.

 

My inner goth is disappoint - the part of me that wants another pair to mod, on the other hand...

That is $301.5

Current exchange rate puts that at £242.55. The current Amazon UK price is £249 but a few days ago it was £233.

Also, the value of the pound went up a little today because of the big Brexit court ruling. I think the value will drop again when Conservative loons start chanting Brexit means Brexit with no hint of coherence in the right wing press.

 

Understated humor was my intention.

 

I don't think they will drop the price much any time soon, mind. All those foreign devils buying up the stocks *eyes SBAF in an evil manner* drove them into Prime-only for a while too. Chances are, they're going to be no more expensive, probably a spot cheaper.

Moreover... DIFFERENT COLOUR! As someone who uses HD650 daily, I suspect that morbid curiosity will get the better of me. You just know that there will be a flurry of measurements and subjective comparisons... Don't assume that rationality is king here. That said, maybe I will come to my senses in the interim.

@Kattefjaes I do not blame you. If I had a little bit extra money I would take a chance on them for uniqueness and the possibility of lower than expected import fees.

 

Who's this headphone for? While the sound might be different, would it not be a step too far backwards from my current setup (in sig)?

Now to answer your own question: The HD6XX is for people who want to pay reasonable prices for reasonable equipment. What does it offer to the likes of you? Ask yourself.

I don't know, I think I'd rather listen to HD650 than an LCD-3, especially going balanced out of a Jotunheim. That's before we consider the comfort and weight issues..

 

Nah, it's your wording. It's supposed to sound exactly like the HD650.

The general consensus here on SBAF is that Audeze headphones are uncomfortable, overpriced and inconsistent. Whereas the HD650 is widely considered the best value audio proposition in town with comfort, durability and an almost perfect tonal balance and timbre.

Other headphones may offer something a little better in one area but never enough to justify the price increase.
