What if I were to inform you that with just a simple adapter the Vali 2 can also take 2A3 tubes?

I already bought the Vali 2. If @Changeling's tube picks prove to be pleasing I shall enter the path of many more tubes.

For now my wallet needs to be spared...

I think it is okay to say SPL here Still prefer the tube amps I have. It is a bit more dry and solid state sounding obviously than any tube amp but it has great balance and good treble extension without emphasising the treble.

@brencho the effect of tube rolling when running atomicbobs IVS is less obvious than without it, and MJ2 has never been too sensitive for tube in my opinion. That said though, they sound very nice. Very nice.

@brencho not much left. I'm saving a fifties CCa pair and a pair of Telefunken E188CC still in plastic wrapping, one pair of Saratov 1969/70 and two pair of Ultrons. That's it. Rest is going.

That's what I'm using and they sound great.

@Rotijon Interesting. I think I will get me a loaner to compare to Mjolnir2. Not really in the market for amp change for another year or so, but didn't hear it with Yggdrasil the last time.

It's spacious, well behaved, and soft and polite to the point it can be boring. Better than Rag? Different at best.

@Hands Not really time for me to change yet, but trying to understand the solid state options a bit better. Rag and 430HA are both interesting...

@brencho I believe they're all good, but frickin' expensive and not even close to worth the money - at least not for me. I've finally come across a pair for a very reasonable cost. The last pair I heard was not better than any of the few pairs I've got left - but it might have been the scary price tag. I'm just hoping that I can be amazed by it now that it didn't break the bank.

Or take the Piccadilly line straight from Heathrow to Kings Cross, about 15 mins slower than Heathrow Express via Paddington, but you don't have to change anywhere. Express train to Cambridge is only 45 mins though. Then taxi to Addenbrooke's. But yeah, go via Stansted next time :)

@Garns I went Piccadilly to KX, then train to Cambridge. Good choice, time for work and not so much hassle. Thanks! Now reverse in rush hour.....

In general tubes move more slowly than other gear so if your goal is to move them quick then cross listing is smart!

@brencho You're right. In addition I don't have the time to keep checking so that I'm not missing out on PM's. And I'd like to get rid of some tubes to fund a steadily increasing list of music. The ECM jazz advice I got here will not serve my economy well :)
