    @atomicbob I’m planning to use them for the SW51+ which hasn’t arrived yet . I stumbled on the tubes looking for other tubes, and thought I’d pick them up just in case :)
    So I don’t know yet, but I’m sure they are going to be good. Siemens made them for Telefunken.

    ... And they were better than the CD in cases where the mastering had taken the life out of the music. Faults, clicks and all.
    
    I'd say that the major thing is not the hardware, but the amount of time and dedication you put in. But that is self-limiting, according to skills and patience: you stop when it's as good as you can get.
    
    But the work done by the real masters and archivists is... scary!

    I came down on the opposite end. Really enjoyed it vs. standard andro. Thought the latter too lean. S variant boosted the mids and perception of the low end at the expense of airiness, to me, which could be somewhat remedied by using spiral dots. That was a tradeoff I was happy to make. Ended up ditching them for the Solaris, though.
