    Why do headphones always have the main treble bump around 10K I wonder. Just dawned on me that I never see the main treble spike any higher than that.

    It's hard to get accurate measurements above 10kHz due to how the measurement of higher frequencies is influenced more by driver position relative to the ear/measurement mic than bass or midrange; I'm less bothered by sibilance shifting some headphones forward and down than I am with my ears centered, for example— the Klipsch HP-3 and MD x Fostex TH-X00 are good examples of this, and I'm thankful for the roomier pads because not even TP can save my ears from pooping themselves on some recordings.

    There was an article on IF detailing how pinnae boost the 1kHz-10kHz region a fair amount, and how most compensations actually roll off a bit too much past 10kHz (in the opinion of some), so measurements of gear with generally elevated treble >9kHz may appear to be centralised around 10kHz even if that isn't necessarily the case.

    https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/headphone-measurements-explained-frequency-response-part-one

    Also, it could just be that some headphone manufacturers deliberately boost the upper treble to give the impression of "air" if the headphone may be otherwise lacking in technicalities or FR balance. Good enough if you're older, but while my hearing tops out at 17~18k I appear to still be more sensitive to the "tizz" region than most, and I've actually teared up listening to some cans that others find merely airy. I will concede that accented treble does seem to help with positional/room cues, so against my ears' better judgement I guess this gets a pass.

    Incidentally I seem somewhat insensitive to lower treble relative to others, which is a bit concerning, but that's neither here nor there.

    ... I just realised this was a derailment. Crap.

    Backed - Congrats!

    @Garuspik Have you considered limiting the availability of the $349 perk? I’m pretty sure that more perceived scarcity would get a lot more people in quickly. But from the other side, I suppose that may put extra pressure on producing them in due time.

    @Br444m - thanks!
    Production process is scalable and I don't like to play games with perceived scarcity. 349$ including international shipping is absolutely enough for me. I don't want to squeeze additional money from people that has nothing except my promises to build cool headphones.

    Support of community is really fantastic. Never used Reddit by the way. Will try to register there. But if someone starts a thread there it would be really cool :D

    /r/headphones is the festering asshole of the audiophile community. It does nothing but spew forth shit and foul odors. Just my opinion.

    ... but the more backers you can get, the better, eh?

    Don't bother. I made a thread there not long after the kockstarter went live, but they have a "no crowd funding campaigns" rule, so it was taken down.

    Holy shit on the campaign reaching over the goaø in one day though, that's ridiculous!!!

    I made one before I read your post, HERE, and it hasn't been taken down yet. I guess we'll see if it lasts.

    Wow, had been closely following this thread, and by the time I wake up in Australia I've missed out on the early bird and already backer number 169!

    Angry but not angry. Congrats!

    Dang, I missed the 299 price, I really want to get a pair of these, it is awesome to see someone be so involved with the community while building a headphone. Great job @Garuspik
