Crews are now focusing on the most complicated and time-consuming restorations. Forecasted wind and rain this week could further complicate these efforts. Based on current info, we expect to restore power to nearly all remaining customers by Sunday, Feb 12. We expect many of our remaining affected customers will have electricity before Sunday. We will reassess the situation midweek. Reply STOP to cancel.
Over a week and way after the cold and ice are gone is quite rediculous. Texas is quite suffering from the great ex-migration from Cali it seems. Austin also suffers from horrible traffic issues. Did your power come back on?
I feel for you so much, mate. We had 11 days in the dark after the 2020 windstorm here, and that was brutal and miserable. Hope you're on the sooner end of that range.
@Azimuth nope, and to top it off, just got into an argument with one of the apartment managers after I asked what they're doing to get us back on, she thought I was passive aggressive and went at me... 6 days of no power, no food in the fridge, no heat, and cold showers and this is what I get from those clowns... after paying my rent on time.
Seems like this is becoming a yearly/recurring thing for Texas to lose power in February because everything freezes over. Seeing people having to dumpster dive for food is absurd, hope you all the best out there. Considered few times relocating out there but the power issues makes me weary now.
I completely get why Texas as a whole wanted a separate grid from the US with supposedly better management, cleaner power, more efficient, etc... but yeah, aside from the theory of it, actual implementation does look rather 3rd world.
Don't know if I should blame corporate for cutting corners (on redundancies and weatherproofing) or blame gov for implementing this like any other overpriced half baked gov project.
Boy, does that suck. I remember being without power and heat for a couple of days while my wife was >5 months pregnant. So much to be grateful for when power came back!
This time it seems the huge majority of outages was in Austin area. Some people were complaining about the Austin power provider. Could be that they haven’t properly maintained trees around power lines or something.
