I recently had a fire sale to cover the costs of a family emergency.

$3200 worth of gear has disappeared in transit.

    Insure your deliveries friends.

Christmas is not a good time of year for the safe arrival of mailed goods. My dad's entire street in posh neighborhood in south San Jose got hit by mail thieves. A police precinct half-way across town called him in to pick up death certificates of my grandmother, presumably thrown away by the thieves near that location. A family friend found envelopes with official checks by the side of the road a few miles away from his house.

My next door neighbor says a good idea to help prevent theft is to put up American flags, NRA stickers, and "Make America Great Again" signs. Make thieves consider the extra 5% chance they might get blown away. My neighbors across the street have video surveillance, a flag pole, and concealed weapon permits for all members of their family. They are super nice folks and we feel safer that they are around and pretty vigilant about stuff.

    P.S.

For our loaner program, always always always get signature confirmation. This simple requirement would have eliminated all of our losses so far.

Did you post those items overseas or just within Australia?

I sent a package interstate prior to Christmas. It took way longer than anticipated but there was also an issue with it bouncing from one AusPost sorting facility to another. The recipient contacted AusPost and was told it would bounce back and forth like that until a human noticed it at one of these sorting facilities, perhaps in mid January. I contacted AusPost and raised a ticket. The package arrived at its destination within 48 hours.

I was also tracking a package from the US, sent just prior to Christmas. I subscribed to and received constant emails of scan events until the package arrived in Australia last week. I received no further updates but the package arrived this morning.

Hope the issues you've had are resolved.

Try getting hold of the postmaster at the location it was lost in. See if they can investigate.
Try to find out the last location it was scanned & went through.

Maybe the label was torn off & the box is just a box without a address?

Funnily, my dad had an different experience just last week. A postman came to deliver a parcel with signature, and nearly left until my dad (who was expecting a much smaller parcel) noticed the address was wrong.

Couriers are forced to cut corners to meet overwhelming volume and lack of adequate facilities and staffing. One way they do this is scanning only one label per large palette full of packages (assuming all are going to the same nexus or distribution location). I've had items travel without being scanned for weeks. Good luck.

Yikes, @jowls, I hope all that stuff was indeed insured. International deliveries are rife with problems.

Sorry to hear about this! It is a good reminder that a loss can happen anytime to anyone, don't go cheap on insurance unless you are prepared to take the loss.

Trust me, I know what you're leaving . Fedex Lost My Stratus @Donald North shipped back to me after repair. No insurance (it's my own choice) . No news since the 12/7 . I still hope they'll find it somewhere but I'm not that confident...

Well, maybe it will show up. I bought something for one of my employees about 3 months ago. It showed as delivered about 2.5 months ago. It never was. Last week, maybe 1. 5 weeks ago I open my office mailbox, and there it was. The item magically appeared. Weirdest shit ever.

Breaks my heart to hear this especially at this time of year. These kinds of things are incredibly stressful, I've lost sleep due to shipping snafus.

Yes, really is terrible. I hope you guys find your missing items. I don't even have things delivered to my home in Florida. There is always an issue. Countless times I've received my neighbors packages and my girl has had many items "delivered" but to God knows where. Always try to have things delivered with signature confirmation. Only 1 time was that an issue. FedEx guy was lazy and didn't feel like going to the 4th floor where my office is. He lied and said my office was closed and delivered it to the main office.

This reminded me of when I had my mail held for like 2 weeks by USPS. When delivery resumed they never brought it. After many phone calls that mostly ended up with them in irritated denial and acting like I was crazy for claiming I didn't get my mail all of my mail was suddenly delivered a week after it was supposed to be delivered.

Is OP sure they are stolen? I mean how long time has passed?
Sorrodje - what tracking shows? Maybe it is still on the way.

I ordered some tubes from USA, NY, in start of december, usually it takes 5-10 days days to arrive them here, to far corner of the Europe, but this time they were almost a month missing before arrived. I already thought i lost them, but finally after cristmas i got them.

Christmas is very risky time to send packages, all the couriers overloaded and this is the time most likely something goes missing.

First of all, I have never lost any package with tracking. I have made more than 100 deals in last years. I have lost some cheap things that had no tracking (total loss around 100$).
Most of the time i use regular post with tracking. I have some inside info from local post office, that someone steals the expensive packages sometimes, nobody knows where but according to tracking info, somewhere in Europe.

I mark my items always low value, use package that looks cheap outside (some old cardboard boxes), i double or triple boxe them to avoid damages. According to my info they only take non tracked items, packages that look expensive and are set/insured to high value.
