I don't think the pinout spacing is quite the same

Each row is 10mm wide on the Alps, vs 5mm on that TKD.

I have considered the more expensive TKD but that will require some wiring on the input.

I'm ok with wiring to the input if I can fit it, but I'm pretty skeptical. The bigger tkd is my favorite pot (not that I've heard a ton).

-edit- actually think it will fit, though wiring will be a pain. I'm a glutton for punishment...

If I already had a T1 I can see how this would make sense and would be what I would go for.

I ordered a Cinemag version to compare to my ECBA. Hoping mine was in the first bunch shipped out.

Mine has been delivered according to tracking. Maybe I'll build this weekend then replace the caps and pot when they arrive Monday.

I went nuts and got some mundorf evo silver gold in oil. Going to be a tight fit and probably not worth it, but what the heck. The evo aluminum in oil is a lot more reasonable and could even sound better for all I know.

Please post impressions of before and after (from memory), and exactly which caps you replaced. Also pictures are always good :D

He's likely replacing the 4 parafeed 10uF caps.

    The Mundorfs aren't cheap...almost $250 a pop...

Sure, I'll do my best ;).

Yeah, too much coin really. Pcx had a 25% off sale so it was kinda buy 3 get 1 free. Still ouch

Edit - they were about 100 a piece. The supreme silver gold in oils are in the 250ish range

That is some crazy overkill going on with those caps. Do you think the less pricey aluminium in oils will represent an improvement over stock?

Really hard to predict. I'm not expecting much (though I probably should based on the overkill). I'll do my best to detail any differences I hear, but that could be tough going on memory plus dealing with the cap burn-in people mention (not sure I "believe" in that beyond very initial break in).

Just out of sympathy for your wallet I'm hoping you see improvements with those caps. Suffice to say you're probably going to serve as my guinea pig |\/|

built and playing music. no time now for any impressions, but i'm optimistic ;D

Stock right now, but I have another pair of tubes (ge 6072a 5 star) to roll in along with the replacement parafeed caps coming Monday. I'll probably run this stock for a week or two before making any changes to hopefully best detect any changes.

    Quick impressions.

Really haven't had much head time at all, and I won't be with a familiar source until tomorrow, but...excited. Bass detail seems really nice. Fast, clean, natural, open. More later.

I was most worried about tonality issues so "clean and neutral" in there is reassuring. Might I ask what your frame of reference is in terms of amps when you describe them as such?
