I am finding I don't have the time or energy or often the expertise/experience (like with DAP's for example, I've heard very few) to write the first review of all new gear I get for loaners. It's important to have a first review written before I post the loaner thread to introduce the gear to SBAF so people know they want to sign up. This is fun, it is a great contribution to SBAF introducing us to new products and it's also important to write them in the right way. They are introduction reviews, so need to be general, informative, have comparisons and not too negative (or best to not write them and send the gear back). And as the first reviewer, you'll act as a kind of gate keeper, deciding if the product will be liked by SBAF. I try to avoid having companies send me their products and then create a thread full of negative impressions. This just hurts the generosity of the companies and also wastes all of our time. So part of it is deciding that we should just send the item back if SBAF won't like it, or not enough. If you decide this is the case, you'd just send it back to the company with my help and we'd avoid any reviews or a loaner. I can help beautify the thread you create with images and links to the manufacturers website or you can do this. A logo of theirs is nice too.

So I'm looking to find people who have experience with various products and would be up for writing introduction reviews for new loaners I get. Please post if you're up for it and which products you can review.

This isn't a commitment, if you are busy you can decline when I reach out, I just want a list of people who I can ask and who are knowledgeable about the various products. I'd just reach out to you via pm if I have something and if you're interested and have time you can write a review!

Please post if you're up for it and which products you can review.

Good idea... but just a comment that I think hearing "less than ideal" gear has a benefit both individually (to understand tastes) and collectively (understand where others are coming from). While I agree we don't want to fill a thread with negative reviews or photo's of poo... I'm not sure just sending the units back is a great idea either.

I tend to simply not post a review if its something I didn't care for... but I still find that listening experience valuable.

I should add that they do not need to be long in depth reviews that are pages long. Just give a sense of what the gear is. An introduction.

I’ll take those categories, sometimes I have issues with time constraints or poor sleep.

DAPs -- I've had quite a few of those. Never any 'top tier' like say SP2000, but lots of mid-level stuff from Hiby, Cowon, FiiO, iBasso.

<edit> Well, plus Random Shit. I mean who doesn't pick up Random Shit occasionally </Edit>

    hello,
if you can forgive my still using obsolete equipment as daily drivers, i would very much like to experience and comment on current DAP's.
    cheers!

Headphone amps. I feel like I’ve owned and heard a big enough cross section of amps to be able to judge new ones pretty well.

Genuinely interested, though I know I'm still a newbie around these parts. If you are still looking for reviewers to add to the list in a few months, I'd be more able to jump in - have a baby on the way in a few weeks, so that'll be fairly time consuming for a while ;)

Unless you already have one or more, you have no idea. It is not just time-consuming, it is all-consuming. But for me at least, also all-rewarding. Enjoy!

This will be #2 - so very familiar with the life altering aspects of little ones! But agree, so very worth it!

Id be interested in speaker amps, but nothing Class D or lower end gear.

DACs too, but no NOS and preferably with built in volume controls, or I would use software volume in MPD.

And I know this is for loaners, but for a proper review-ish thing id prefer to have at least 2 weeks if not 3 if possible.

Sure glad @Gazny took SE cables as well as optical cables, preferably with huge knobs...that was close. :D

I would be interested in DAP's. I would take DAC's, amps, and HP's as well and I promise to look for both upside as well as downside ;) though I can see how others might be better at an "introduction" thread for these gears

Great plan. I love this gate-keeping/screening approach. I'd definitely like to contribute back to the community, so please add me to the following.

On the off chance anything makes it here into Canada, if I'm representing the Winnipeg coalition between the half dozen of us we can comfortable handle just about all the categories. The main hurdle is actually getting stuff up here in the first place.
