The IEMatch raises the OI? I thought it lowered it.

I don't know how exactly it works, but:

    Input Impedance: > 16 Ohm
    Output Impedance: < 2.5 Ohms (High-Sensitivity) < 1 Ohms (Ultra-Sensitivity)

I keep it on high most of the time unless a recording is has a really weak low-end and I set it to Ultra for a boost.

Ah, okay, so it's variable. That's clever.

    Hey Guys,

I just want to say I am really excited to participate in next months SBAF meet in LA. I will bring all my warez for all to enjoy!

Regarding the Vega, I remember that the Lyra was not received all that well here in the forums here at SBAF. I did not think some of the impressions really jived with me and Calebs take on them but I understand everything cant be as well received as the Andromeda was ;-). The Vega is in the same family as the Lyra, Lyra II so while the Vega is "better" than the Lyra the Vega is similar to the Lyra. We hear more micro detail, tighter and more resolving low freq in the Vega. If your a fan of dynamic driver IEMs you will likely love the Vega, if you are not then it will not be your cup of tea. If you did not like the Lyra, you will likely not be in for the Vega. We feel like the Vega has some very subtle elements to its sound that is very unique, however it is not readily in your face unless you have been listening to higher tier dynamic driver IEMs for a while and can appreciate subtle differences in tonality and depth. We think the ADLC tech has something really cool to offer to some peoples ears.

We are really happy with all 3 new offerings and hope some people will also find them to be everything we know and love about them.

I look forward to talking with everyone at next months event!

    Cheers,

    Ken

    HI!

64audios TIA is quite a bit different than our TAEC technology. I met with Vitality a month or so ago to make sure we were not stepping on each others toes, thankfully we are not. I think its cool to see some new tech being offered, I think most IEMs are far too similar sounding so we are trying very hard to offer something different.

Coming from a DD IEM purist and here I thought my T8ie mk2 can stop me from buying another IEM because no one wants to make DD flagship. Th-thanks... CA...

    Hi @KenBall!

It looks like the Dorado is already listed as backordered on the website, but the Vega says still in stock. Will today's Vega orders be processed this week or is the Tokyo show going to delay them?

Also while I can't make it to the SBAF meet next month, there are several of us who are local to Portland who would love to visit the shop sometime if you're amenable!

It's VERY tempting to order a Vega ... but being the impatient bastard I am ... I'd want to be sure I was getting it the next day (as in Thursday).

To those wondering about shipping, I ordered a Vega earlier today, and I already got my tracking # saying Fedex should have it on the way tonight (arriving Thursday).

It's later in the day orders I'm curious about. And I'm local anyway so I'd prefer local pickup (which I listed as my shipping preference on this order but I also listed it as my shipping preference on my Orions and they got shipped so who knows).

@KenBall , great to have you here. Of the three new DD IEM offerings, which would you consider to be the most (relatively) neutral sounding?

@KenBall Would you be able to comment on the extent of the mid-bass elevation on the new DD IEMs relative to the rest of the FR? That was a big turn off for me personally when I tried the original Lyra (and I suspect, most others who weren't enthused with it).

A single dynamic (or moving coil) driver can cover the whole frequency range better than multiple balanced armatures.

So, the driver type matters a lot! And, of course, within driver types, there are many variations. Hopefully, the Vega's DLC coated dynamic driver will perform well!

@KenBall I would like to know how the Vega compares to Andro. I bought my Andro only a few days ago and am already wondering if I should sell it to fund a Vega. A comparison between the two in regard to sound signature and technicalities would be helpful. I haven't heard the original Lyra so I have no idea whether I'm going to like Vega's sound.

    Hi Ken (@KenBall)

That bolded part sounds like a challenge! I'm like the poster child (just imagine a poster of the pirate cat) for listening to higher end dynamic driver iems for a long time!

    Please, two questons:

Could you give us a sense of the mid-bass to sub-bass on the Vega--is the mid-bass elevated or is the boost more in the sub-bass, or simply both?

    And

How is the treble extension? Is the treble rolled off up top, is it brought down but extended, is it peaked then rolled off, etc. etc. etc.?

P.S. Nice Panerai (as shown on your wrist in Jude's video--we have a watch thread in the "Geek Cave" section, please stop by sometime!)

Good questions... Probably should have waited for the answers... But I couldn't. I hate to say it, besides their past success, the one DD, special coating, several members buying it that I respect, but that video from Jude pushed me over the top. With him talking about touching the Vegas to see if they are moving... I hope I have same reaction.

To be honest, the Jude video is a good sign. Why?

We all know when Jude doesn't like something he takes the review riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight up to the part where he describes the sound...and stops, promising to finish later, which he never does. Which is frustrating for the reader, but he has to avoid slagging his sponsors, I imagine.

    Like with the A&K T8ie http://www.head-fi.org/t/779847/ast...k-t8ie-review-first-impressions-from-ifa-2015

But with the Vega, he went all out and even spent some serious time on an apology for the extra bass (which, by the way, he's right about, or at least there apparently research showing that elevated bass in an earphone sounds more "natural" to listeners--this was done at some University in Aus, John Moulton cited it with me and I promptly lost the citation, YMMV and all). Anyhoo, Jude really liked the Vega, it seems.

And on the treble front with the Vega:

" I asked Ken about the upper end of the frequency range and where the upper range ends or rolls off and he said there is a little bump around 13 khz and after that it kind of rolls off. "
How strongly it rolls off will be important, I think. On dynamic drivers, you can often hear way past the point they start to roll off. But, sometimes, not.
