The dealer near where i live got the first batch of Vega in and they're sold out so fast, probably a time to go pit it against andromeda and see which one i like....

GO2A will be a ridiculous pairing then in high gain.

This is a great example of a classy vendor post. Welcome to our little forum :). We appreciate you being open to feedback, both positive and not so positive.

I'm personally very excited to hear the Vega.

I'm hoping I made the right purchase... The Dorado many have been a better fit for my tastes, but I do love dynamic drivers and if this is an upgrade to the mighty Sony ex1000 I will be extremely happy. Just worried about the driver size, 8.5mm kind of small. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I'll end up fighting with my business partner over this since I used out company debit card. Lol. He won't be happy.

Glad to see you over here, @KenBall. Welcome! :punk:
I'm particularly curious about this with regard to the Lyra II, actually. Has there been any change to its tuning? Or was the goal to replicate the performance of the original in a different earphone housing?

I like the finish on the Lyra II so much that I'm having trouble resisting a purchase on that basis alone.

Aaaand that's how you do "being a business", very graceful. I hope you feel that the almost disturbing and icky amounts of love for the Andromeda show that people are just as quick to praise as they are to pick holes, when a product really kicks ass :)

Dunno about Campfire, but ALO has a rich history of good great Black Friday sales. I wouldn't put it past them.

    HI Songmic,

The Vega IMO is totally different from the Andromeda, its a classic BA vs Dynamic situation. I am currently switching between the Vega, Andro and Dorado all the time. Depending on what mood I am in and what I am fancying to listen to I make a grab on one of these. For me my personal preference is the Vega most of the time, but I am squarely in the Dynamic driver camp.

    HI Kunlun,

Midbass to sub bass on the Vega is where it shines IMO, there is more of a sub bass emphasis vs a midbass. The bass on the Vega is terrific with excellent decay and grip.

HF has a peak around 8-9K and another one further out around 13kish. Good transparency here with some very good resolution.

Yeah the watch, I sold all my watches and bought that to put my watch problem to rest. I live the 233.

I have to catch a plane to Tokyo now so sorry if I missed your question, I will circle back!

Thanks, @KenBall for coming to this community and answering questions. I guess with the expansion of your line (and a future addition of a headphone), you're pretty busy, so it's extra special for you to take the time to come here. I will be comparing the three new ones against the Andromedas that I already own at the SBAF meet. Have a great time at the Tokyo show.

Like most people posting in this thread, I’m curious about (2 of) these new EMs.

Some here may remember I was a BIG fan of the EX1000, though ultimately I found the EX800/7550 a better, more convincing all-rounder, so I, too, would love to see an EX1000 successor of sorts.

However, regarding the new DD Vega, I have 2 (serious) concerns: bass & treble.

Now, I’ve had my Andros for 5 months (I was one of the earliest adopters), and it remains the best head/earphone I’ve heard to date. To this day, I find it very hard to fault the Andromeda, to be perfectly honest, and have spent enough time with it to be able to go well past FOTM status — FWIW, every single time I’ve A/B’d my Andros with my HD800 and/or HD600, the Andros have always come out on top.

I love the near DD-type sound and slight, but very tasteful, low-end elevation on the Andromeda, which does NOT interfere in the least with the excellent and very resolving midrange. The treble remains the best treble I’ve heard in a head/earphone.

After watching Jude’s video, I came out thinking the bass on the Vega seems to be more elevated than on the Andro — if this indeed the case, then chances are the Vega would NOT my cuppa. On well-mastered albums (and I have plenty), bass amplitude on the Andromeda is as close to perfect as you can get, IMO, just wonderful — any more (bass) amplitude, and these would definitely become bothersome/fatiguing, bloated and unnatural-sounding. This would even be more evident and worrying, for me, on classical orchestral works.

Jude describes the treble as more subdued (my word) on the Vega than on the Andromeda — this would DEFINITELY be a deal breaker for me.

After hearing Jude’s impressions (not so sure how well he actually knows the Andromeda to draw his conclusions, though), I’m actually more curious about the $1000 hybrid.

@music_4321 I'm in same boat, have both ex1000 and ex800st. I prefer the ex800st as well. Both are great. I'm praying these are really good. It would be incredible if that little driver bests the ex1000.

Did Marv ever measure the EX1000? I recall he had it for a while...

I couldn't get a good seal and had a stack of other stuff on my desk, so I didn't bother to try more.

EX1000 was too peaky / bright for me. I don't think this is Campfire Audio's sound.

Let's just hope that "that little driver" does not deliver the bloated bass the IE800's little driver does!

It was precisely the peaky/bright treble that made me, in the end, choose the EX800/7550 (which I still own) over the EX1000. BTW, the EX series were never meant to provide a good seal (due to their design). I have to say, though, that the EX1000 were absolutely incredible with (mostly) classical orchestral music.

Campfire having a new all-powerful dynamic IEM, without all the weird corners of the Andro capsule.. that's a dangerous thing :(

I wasn't that keen on listening to the Andromeda as the BA count arms race always bothers me a bit (though it sounded exceptional), but a the Vega with a weapons-grade dynamic driver may be harder to ignore. My wallet's only hope may be that there are no UK dealers listed.
