    Both come from the Head-fi "Schiit Happened" thread.

    I agree that Modi is meant to be intro and costs need to be kept low, and multibit is necessarily more complex and the actual chips are way more expensive. But there is no denying that the unit in the guys hand 1) looks an awful lot like Modi based on front and back panels and 2) looks different than the other Modi, which is a 4490, meaning the most current iteration.

    So it has to be some sort of modified Modi or a replacement or whatnot.

    Wait... if there's a headphone out in the picture, why would it be a Modi?

    Maybe a Modi/Magni combo in one chassis to finally do away with the O2/ODAC for good?

    Edit: Nevermind, @JoshMorr cleared that up below

    Its a dac, same inputs as regualr modi 2 u - only output is analog rca. 3 inputs usb, toslink and coax

    What is being called the headphone jack is a input selector button.

    Thank you, Josh, and good catch Pooch. Coffee ran low this afternoon...

    I think the entry level DAC/AMP combo is the most likely, though quite unexpected! Then again, they made Fulla, so why not do a proper desktop one? If putting it as one unit drives the cost down, and into one box, it will be a much easier sell for a lot of the more casual audio dabblers, like our family members.

    @schiit work in mysterious ways...

    But there’s more. I want to do more at Schiit. So consider this our manifesto: we will continue to bring the highest-value products, at the fairest-possible margins, in the largest-quantity runs (for even lower cost) to assure that as many people can enjoy high-end audio as possible, and to grow the audience for the future.

    To me, there is no denying that R2R implementations sound different to DS. I can't find the reference but I am sure Jason has said at one point or another that Modi/Magni is their highest selling product line.
    If anyone can shoehorn R2R into a Modi sized chassis, it's Jason and Mike |{

    I think if Jason and Mike felt they could get away with producing only R2R DACs, they would. The best way to do that is to have R2R at all the price levels they offer, lower the barrier to entry for new consumers who want to dip their toes in those waters.

    Mike's dream come true.

    I actually wouldn't mind if the announcement was them mass producing these:

    I need to go back and dig. There was a meet at shiazadas house, Jason brought a Dac, thought it was multibit, but it was all vague talk anyway. Same amp was Easter egg in fostex th-x00 review?

    I may have mixed several random facts to come up with this conspiracy theory. Now, I can see how the radio guys do it.

    Not the same amp, I was just pointing out that there have been Schiit unreleased easter eggs in pictures before. It was a Vali 2 here, but you can't really see the PCB http://www.superbestaudiofriends.or...-omni-vs-th-x00-and-nighthawk.676/#post-17551

    I was thinking the same. Although I do have a GOV2 already, but how can I say no to multibit?

    I'm guessing some kind of DSP processing either to add harmonic content or tweak tonal character subtly. I'm thinking like how the LISST is a solid state tube making use of the existing architecture but with a twist. Harmonic exciters are so much more than just EQ since they dynamically add based on the audio content. I don't think it's going to be any kind of normal DSP/Room Correction stuff since they said it hasn't been done before and Mike got the idea from when he played in a bluegrass? band.

    Yeah, I think this is the most plausible, so far anyway.
