Glad to have seen him live twice. The man was such a true musician. Also this was amazing: .

Doesn't get more special than a surprise performance from Prince during a Larry Graham show.

    R.I.P.

    This feels so appropriate:

Man did he shred his part in that While my Guitar Gently Weeps tribute.

    One of my favorite performances

My brother just texted me the news and I was just stunned. Just caught part of Purple Rain on cable like a week ago; the beginning of that film just rocks. R.I.P. As someone who grew up in the '80's, Prince is just one of the mega-giants and an amazing artist. He will be sorely missed.

Man, I'll never forget playing 1999 over and over in my 65' Mustang when I turned 16.

RIP music legend. :( :( I loved everything Prince did. So much raw talent, so funky.... a real superstar in ever sense of the word.

Maybe too soon but who is gonna take up the slack for guys like Prince and Bowie? Almost no one wants to learn an instrument anymore... it's all synths and computer production. Out of curiosity I started listening to the RIAA Gold certified playlist on TIDAL the other day. One word: AWFUL. Makes me afraid for the future of music.

This is insane. I can't remember a year like this where so many influential entertainers died (before their time?). Bowie, Rickman, Prince... and it is only April :(

Man, I remember my dad putting on Purple Rain when I was a kid. Such an odd dude, but some songs stuck with me. Brilliant musician. The first girl I ever loved mad me watch the movie Purple Rain, I'm glad she did. This is a sad day.

All our heroes are getting up there. Would you believe me if I said that all the guys below are pushing 70?

    Pink Floyd
    Rolling Stones
    McCartney and Starr
    Dylan
    Neil Young
    Clapton

And let's not forget the ones we lost way too early.

    Hendrix
    Elvis
    Lennon
    Marley
    Otis Redding
    Morrison
    Mercury

Probably forgot many. Depressing I know :(

I wonder if there ever will be a generation like this again, the birth of rock n' roll, metal and pop. It's been special. One a more postive note good old Chuck B. is still alive and kicking. 89 years old and still performing as best he can, bless his heart.

    R.I.P Prince.

It always amazes me at how some of these legends who are 60, 70+ are still working it on stage on a regular basis, sometimes touring for many months in a row. Ever see Bruce Springsteen in concert? I hope to be in that kinda shape when I'm his age...damn.

Really sad to hear about Prince. Best live concert I've been to. A truly gifted musician and performer.

Prince was my favorite rock artist after Bowie, so this has been a particularly tough year for me.

    hello,

got to see him twice, both times left with ringing ears and dancing feet.

had been listening to "Emancipation" for the last couple of days and thinking what a great record it is, then this shit.

time to blast "Sex in the Summer"
