IMO, New Bifrost is about $300. too much. In 2011 I payed $299. for the first one, and it was a great value.

Schiit got lazy and greedy(imo). When they started, they were hungry and just wanted to give the people great value products.
Back then they'd pick up the phone, respond to emails and seemed to give a Schit.

This is nothing new, as lots of companies start small and hungry. Once successful, forgetting the values once promised.

    Still love my SAGA s:rolleyes:

You are aware that from a design standpoint the current Bifrost 2 is markedly different from its immediate predecessor, never mind the non-multibit model from just under a decade ago? Technology isn't static, and just looking at pics of internals (I don't have any real engineering knowledge) the innards of the new kid seem a lot more formidable.

Speaking of things changing, the inherent value of currency is always in flux— 2011 money is not 2020 money.

"at a retail price of $349 (without USB 2.0 input) and $449 (with USB 2.0 input)" [with Uber Analog stage, it was $519].

$399 for Delta Sigma with USB included (so, a price drop) or $599 for multibit.

They should've called the Bifrost 2 instead "Gungnir Multibit Compact Edition" to avoid this type of moron post.

You're an idiot and get 2 weeks off.

Schiit has a set margin calculation they use for all of their products and it didn't change here. If anything, they can source parts cheaper than ever due to their volumes today. The new product has quite a lot more tech and expensive parts like the DAC chips in there. It's also dangerously close to their $1200+ DAC offerings. I still am amazed that they got this much performance out of a little box.

It doesn't even matter what previous Bifrost iterations cost. Compare the current product to other products in a similar price range.

Considering I enjoy the Bifrost 2 more than my previous $1300 Gungnir Multibit, I'd say the value in their products is still alive and well.

Anyway, we've given this troll too much satisfaction at this point by playing his silly little game. Time to move on.

I continue to find the BF2/Liquid Platinum combo pretty special. I used to go to work and listen to my Modi/Vali 2 setup and wonder why I was throwing so much money into my home setup since the mini stack got me pretty close. That's changed now...my work setup suddenly sounds kind of pitiful in comparison. Now I'm half wondering why I've spent that money on my work setup when a portable player and portapros would probably suit me fine.

Boy, I'm picking up a bunch of custom titles lately: Suck-Ass Designer, Can't Be Trusted, now Lazy and Greedy, And all in one day! Such a great place, makes me want to come back!

For what it's worth, we never picked up the phone, but we always answer emails (current average is about 4.5 hours), and we've always given a Schiit.

That tends to come with success Jason; shake it off. Schiit isn't perfect, but I (and I would bet many others) can't imagine my journey without your efforts / products.

However, having a great well-respected company and hopefully the financial rewards that come with it do help soften the hits of trolls.

I keep quoting Drake; “Jealousy is just love and hate at the same time.”

Early days. Call me a pessimist if you must, but I think the next 10 months will yield at least a few more competitive posts.

    Success is it’s own reward.

Most people don’t understand what it takes to build a successful business. There aren’t many people who can do it, and not many of the ones that can are willing to take the risk. It’s even more rare to build a business that disrupts an industry, which Schiit has also done. You certainly have my respect and I’m sure anyone else with half a brain. Take pride in accomplishing something very, very few people have the intelligence, knowledge, work ethic and vision to do.

The insightful thing to have said is that Schiit lacks a DAC in the $250-$500 range.

Bifrost 2 >>>>> OG sigma-delta Bifrost. Really not even the same DAC, despite same name and chassis.

    It's like saying today's Mustang 5.0 is a rip-off because the 1979 SVO Mustang cost $5500.

Modi Multibit = $250 + shipping I believe, but you’re right there is a gap in their lineup
