Confused... after watching the video. What is this?
Why isn't this on Schiit.com?
It appears to be a video prepared to coincide with the release of Jotun, that happens to have been posted a day early.
As for why?
Because Jude is an insecure asshole that has to assuage his (correctly) perceived smallness by scooping major product releases, and/or pressuring manufacturers to let him do it?
Also schiit doesn't do videos.
Isn't this somewhat competitive with the Cayin iDAC-6 and companion balanced amp?
A little bird tells me this amp is the real deal and might be one of the best SS amps on the market.
Also, the phono stage isn't something to sneeze at and should be a good improvement from Mani. I haven't confirmed these impressions myself, but some food for thought. I'll be ordering at least the amp, maybe the phono module as well this morning. Worst case I use this as a phono stage + preamp for my speakers for now.
Best case I use it as a standalone amp with my vi dac at work.
This post confuses me.
Jotunheim's a balanced, solid-state amp that can accept either a delta-sigma USB DAC or phono stage via an expansion slot. Both modules are new designs. The unit also has preamp functionality. And it's not on Schiit's website because it hasn't been released yet. I'd expect that to change soon, however.
Don't see how you couldn't have gleaned that from the info that's already been presented, but hopefully you're all set now.
Isn't that @baldr in his true form? Glorious.
Alright, down here, at breakfast and ready to rock. Show us what you got, @schiit .
Looks like Jotunheim out does what the Liquid Carbon tried to do, at a lower price point, and with more bells and whistles
Could be! But we'll just have to see.
Okay, but how does it sound?
I'm rocking my SBAF shirt and I'm on my way over now!
Maybe a long shot, but if anyone going to the Schiit Show is bringing the appropriate balanced IEM cables & an XLR adapter, I'd be interested to know if the balanced output on the new Schiit is quiet enough to drive IEMs effectively.
I got you covered! Got my universal Spartans with balanced cable and an adapter.
Uhhh, Jude already said "its really quiet," and then he pointed to numbers which were impressively large/small. What more is there to know?
Ain't competition grand?!?
I plan on getting one not to necessarily replace my LC but will be interesting to compare them. Will be nice to have flexibility with 2 amps in the house.
Ha ha! The Jotun's FAQ is the best one yet.
Any announcements about speaker preamp and/or amp?
the Jotun PDF manual is great also. love the 3 way input selector switch on the front:
up for internal module, middle for balanced, bottom for SE input.
going to be a quick flip switch to see how well the internal DAC fares vs. external Gungnir Multibit XLR inputs.
Separate names with a comma.
