Those two amps are complete opposites. What speakers are you going to mate to either of them?

 

Just sharing for others that may have been interested from loaner impressions of the Warp 1, I am not purchasing.

Considering the Amp Camp as a fun one to try with Forte IVs, holding off for now though.

 

Building your own is half the fun. Novice-friendly project and sounds great, considering its limitations.

 

Maybe. Depends on what's inside. Could be a total hack job or a gem. But you should build a kit instead.

PSSST- Sennheiser HD-650 $299.99 at the Zon. Just buy them, this is a silly good deal.

 

Pardon my ignorance here, but when it comes to new production HD 650, is it any different than a HD 6XX? I always assumed vintage HD 650 was worth it due to better production/made in Ireland/etc. Is there still a discrepancy in quality with new ones? I am curious as I only ever heard a HD 6XX and settled on the HD 600 as more for me, but I have been curious to circle back to where I started with the HD 650/6XX.

 

I don’t know about current HD6XX but the one I bought when they first dropped were made in Ireland.

 

I no naught about 6xx. I think there are threads about any real or purported difference. Did I read that the tuning was slightly diff than both 650/600? I dunno and don't care, I am sure if you own one of the 3 you can be happy.

I owned the 650 twice and 600 once very recently. In the end, I preferred the HD-600.

My alert was for anyone considering the 650 to just jump on it.

 

Amaxon (through 3rd party) currently has a sale in the Klipsch RP-8000F for $499 each.

There is speculation that the drivers that aren't matched very well get kicked down to be used in the 6XX. I don't know that this has been proven/disproven.
If you're in the market for a 650, it may be worth finding an older black silk version used. They pop up enough that you won't be waiting too long. They're often $250-300, and will need a fresh set of earpads (and likely a headband cushion), but they sound nice.
