Using frequency response (and sweep samples), the curves produced by UERR and ER4 are pretty similar 20 Hz - 16 kHz and roughly track the standard equal loudness curves. What does that tell me?
The Noble 4 has to be bumped up on both ends to achieve similar curves, and I can't get auditory output @ 16, which is surprising, because I never felt it was rolling off or robbing me of details on either end of the spectrum.

 

Thanks! Yes, the N4 bumps up at 6.5khz (going on memory, something like that) and it doesn't extend all the way up.

Okay, neogeosnk, is the uerr the King of Fighters, er, of extension, or does it lose the Samurai Shodown*?









*yeah, that's how they spell it.

 

"Trivia" time!!!

I think Shodown is kinda intentional misspelling for them to avoid writing the full name of the 1st game.

The original Japanese title of the 1st game can be roughly translated as Samurai Spirits: the Chapter of Heaven-Piercing Demon Exorcism

But that doesn't really sound so good in English, so instead... Shodown was chosen as a pun on: "Showdown", "down with their head" (kinda synonymous with destroying, exorcising?) because "sho" also reads like "head" in Japanese (and Chinese, and Vietnamese), and then it also means "one chapter down".

Now it'd be funny if any Samurai Shodown fan shows up at SBAF because I gave my silly explanation for SNK's misspelling. LOL

But anyway, how's the UERR? I've been super interested in it for a while, but impressions have been scarce.

 

I ordered a pair with heart wood but its out of stock so ive been waiting for like four weeks already, another 3 to go

If the extension really goes to 18k ill be happy, the only nit picks i had with the uerm was the lack of sparkle and extension in the highs

 

The purple heart? I would have totally gone for that if it were an option when I got my UERMs.

Any impression? Im tempting to get one but i cant demo it until next month (dealer ordered a demo but its not here yet) , i am a fan of UERM so this is pretty exciting new model!

 

The wood options are GORGEOUS. I tried to get some and couldn't. This is great news if now an option! If I ever get UERR...

 

I'm really tempted to order but the USD/CDN exchange rate is bruuuuuuuutal right now.

 

Hope someone will post impressions and comparisons soon. I will be buying a new CIEM later this year. Likely UERR or JH13. Going on 10 years with the old UE10 Pro. I think it's time, lol.

 

There's a new JH13 coming. New drivers and adjustable bass. I have a pair coming.

Is there any full impression yet about UERR from SBAF members here?
I'm about to decide between Custom Art Harmony 8 or UERR..

 

I should update, i got mine in the mail... but got some good news and bad news.

In terms of SQ they seemed to have fixed the slightly brittle treble on the uerm, that some found kind of annoying. Treble extension is clearer and goes further, definitely an improvement. They didn't muck up the bass or anything, which in my opinion is a good thing. People who want pounding base wont be happy with these, more for purists, although EQ works very well with these I find if you want to add more base.

Oh and I was pairing it with a chord mojo, (yes, i own a chord product. yes, I can't believe it either....)

Bad news. The build quality of my pair is terrible and I've already sent them back to get fixed. I paid the extra $200 for the wood faceplatess, looked terrible, nothing like the website, had glue and debris on the wood that was underneath the acrylic, also the wood pieces were freaking TINY, like anorexic skinny. I also discovered a hairline crack in one of the shells, the second time I went to put them in I heard a crack... shattered in two. Really disappointed in the craftsmanship of UE. This is some JH audio quality control level shit.

Right now i'm waiting for the impression for custom arts harmony 8, I'm quite interested with them too because I've read a lot of praise about their technicality micro and their capability to create a large and natural soundstaging but with precise imaging

 

I've heard the harmony 8pro. Flattish tuning with mild treble peak. It's nice enough and well made, but it wasn't really something that I think would wow anyone who know totl ciems and wasn't primed to hype. It didn't so anything wrong and didn't blow me away with anything, either. Pretty solid top of the line multi BA.

UERM/UERR is what I'd take over it.

 

Regarding build, how disappointing.
So is the bass is the same as UERM? What did you think of UERM in that aspect?
