That set (10179) is insane - not just in how much fun it was to build, or how neat a set it is, but in other ways too ...

I wound up collecting the entire Lego Star Wars UCS line (at least for Episodes 4, 5 and 6), and ordered that set the day it was announced (at $499, if I recall correctly). I bought them all to build and display with no thought to future value. I don't have kids, so this was a purely self-indulgent geek-thing.

Earlier this year I had gotten tired of dusting them and the space they were taking up I decided to sell all of them. Within five minutes of listing the Falcon on the local Craigslist ... I had over a dozen inquiries from all over the country, and that got progressively crazier. And this was for an open-box set. I thought the prices asked on eBay and Amazon were purely fanciful, but they turned out to be very much real.

All of the UCS sets went for significantly more than I original paid, new, for them, even those I didn't still have the original boxes for, and I was really surprised at that. But the Falcon was just insane ...

You'll have fun building that one!

Sorry, guys. Didn't research all the prices. The RE400 for $49 is pretty sweet, though maybe less so than the recent Massdrop RE-00 for $35. If the isolation were better, I'd be tempted to try the RE600 for $129.

Oh, you have to contact them directly. Sounds like a scam. Even if it isn't, no Amazon protection if the transaction happens outside of Amazon.
