@Elnrik Have you taken possession of the Dragon IHA1? I'm wondering if you prefer the Lyr 3 to the Dragon?

Yes. The packaging single handedly resupplied all of my bubble wrap needs for the foreseeable future.

I haven't compared them head to head. The IHA-1 is my home tube amp, and I might eventually sell my Crack now that I have it. The Lyr 3 was for my office setup. I haven't even thought about how they compare. I might be able to squeeze some time in this weekend and do a comparison for you.

I realize I wasn't as clear as I might be with this rather quick post.

I am hoping one of those better at articulating audible differences such as @purr1n or @Torq would create the aforementioned spider chart. My skills at describing such auditory traits suck by comparison. I also have bourgeoisie tastes in headphone audio and am very happy to listen to any of the above all night when I have a Zana Deux and Liquid Crimson in the lab library to which I could listen.

Been listening to lyr3 for four hours (one hour or so spent for mcth though).

I've always wanted (either SS or tube) amps having jot's sonic blackness+clarity but with more macro-dynamics, plankton, a bit thicker bass, and a hint of lushness. Lyr3 is the closest answer to me to date. Schiit! Thanks Schiit!!!

Really like lcd2c+lyr3(currently TS 6sn7geb) combination. Makes me just happily listen to music for hours... (Damn.. I hate to have a research meeting tomorrow:()

LCD2C or HD650K with Lyr 3 with the right 6SN7 is flat out awesome. I am never ever going to tell you guys the sublime super resolving spacious 6SN7 that I like with this combination. No, it's not the bloomy warmfeg Fivre, Brimar, or Mullard. The only person who might know is Voldemort.

    Neener neener neener.

I'm just happy to hear there's a modern production tube that sounds great. No more NOS nervosa (I get enough of that crud with vintage fountain pen inks).

    +1 to @Lyer25

Basic tung-sol is very good enough, and easy to get (surely I can trust Schiit more than any other random ebay tube sellers...)

Curious about other well-received tubes though (e.g. Sylvania chrome top).

Btw I googled which 6sn7 was the best, and one answer was tung-sol's vt231 nos. Price was almost insane to me.

I can't wait until until people acquire $2500 worth of tubes for this $500 amp.

I had to google it. I still don't get who he's referring to, or if he's just being cryptic. Don't care enough to dig deeper. Forget I asked.

I’m pretty sure Marv means Voldemort from the Harry Potter stories. He is the most powerful wizard who ever existed (or at least recent times - I have never been that into the series) and can read minds.

"Wizard" brings Bill-P to mind, but he's a level 42 while Voldemort is undoubtedly a few ranks higher than that. Also, technically a "dark wizard" which brings the dark side of the force to mind and I'm just lost now.

But wait. Level 42 . Four and two in Japanese are "shi (or yon)" and "ni", respectively. "Shini" is "death", Lord You-Know-Who was affiliated with the DEATH Eaters. Hmmmm.

GDI I'm thankful I can't afford this amp yet. Also, f**k it Marvey, chances are there will be people who'd happily roll tubes til they've gone over the price of the Lyr five times over :))))

Multiple edits because auto correct hates me .

No, he does not mean Voldemort from HP stories. Voldemort is a nickname for a certain persona non grata who I will not mention either by name.
