This is a small collection of albums in the sale but they are pretty much all top-notch. Some tthat jump out at me personally are the Coltrane albums, the Charles Mingus album Blues and Roots - a real classic from his greatest era, and the Herbie Hancock album. If you're a fan of Medeski, Martin and Wood (especially their electric stuff) et al or late 60's/early 70's funk then this is the Hancock album to get. Joao Gilberto's voice recording on Amoroso sounds really good in high-res. Besame mucho con ese sonido suave.

if it were a B-Friday kind of price, then it could have ok for me to have only a 90 days warranty. But buying a B-Stock with not such significant difference and only 90 days of warranty only, makes it not that interesting for me.

Yup. You usually have ~10% discounts with the standard warranty (a la Schiit) or deeper 30% discounts with a 90-day warranty (many big brands). 10% discounts and losing 75% of the warranty is just a raw deal.

I wonder if this pricing/warranty balance is truly where @KenBall wants it to be or whether it's a relic of the deeper discounts we saw during Black Friday. With that pricing I wouldn't mind a tiny warranty so much...

You're better off asking this question in the All Purpose Advice Thread, as this one's geared towards posting deals.

    - Mee Pinnacle P1 on Lightning deal for $160. I'm a newer owner of these, haven't written any impressions yet but I like them pretty well especially for their build and fit. Comes with two cables (one with remote), both are a little stiff but feel well made.

-Also Brainwavz is having another sale similar to their black friday sale, probably most notable for the pads. From my email:

Ho Ho Ho! Christmas 2016 is here and Brainwavz is offering some great products that will make ideal gifts at a discounted prices. Discounts are across Brainwavzaudio.com, Amazon.com.

Brainwavz Audio will also be participating in many lightning deals each week from now till end of December on Amazon UK, France, Spain and Italy.

I have all three of those headphones and I can confirm the utopia is better than the modded hd800 and the PMx2. Many of my friends have heard all three and all agree.

Ok, how much of a jump in performance are we talking about? What I meant was I don't think its a massive leap in performance.

Well, for a start, it doesn't have the upper mid suckout that plagues the HD800x. It's still very expensive, but it's better-tuned. That said, so is the HD650. Utopia has great technicalities in general- just not sure I'd pay that much for them. Its main super-power is that it doesn't do much wrong, which is rare and not to be underrated.

I wouldn't be surprised if a year or three down the line, we'll be able to pick up Utopias for a lot less. The current hawtness always holds its price. If you're in no rush, and your current cans give you pleasure, I wouldn't trip over yourself to upgrade, unless it's not a lot of money to you. This is the deals thread- I suspect that to get a killer deal on Utopia, you just need to do a bit of time travelling.

(There are people around here for whom the upgrade was a case of not enjoying alternative cans due to poor tuning, and of course there are glorious rich bastards you don't give a damn. Both of these folks are going for it, sometimes more than once, and hopefully will enjoy them in good health.)

I always think the "what percent difference?" or "how big of a change" questions to be nonsensical. Those questions are so absolutely subjective to be irrelevant. Additionally the law of diminishing returns would state that in some situations the final 5% improvement of anything could involve huge differences in cost.

I suggest that people in this position ask one key question and then take a few related actions:

Question = How much can I realistically afford to pay for a HP?
Action 1 = Get your paws on the HP's at the price point and below, using sites like this to help inform you, but don't make your decision based on what you read!!!
Action 2 = Really listen to them and see what you enjoy. Shows are awesome for seeing and hearing a lot of different cans, but suck for critical listening.
Action 3 = Buy what you like and listen to them as much as you can and be happy in losing yourself in the music.
Action 4 = Don't come on to threads and crap on other people's happiness, such as saying "my X is clearly better than your Y and look how much less I paid (or how much more I can afford to pay - same issue) for them." As my kids like to say "Don't yuck my yum".

    Cheers
