What's the point of them at a bank? These printers have fax and internet fax, regular fax takes 5 or more min depending on job, internet fax takes 10 seconds.
consistency, lowest common denominator (like email)... you can walk off the street into a kinkos to send a fax.
secure? now that it's over ip (the internet) no more secure than anything else-- ie does it use public/private encryt? does it do it correctly, is there a backdoor?
people resist change, gotta have that fax, even now that 99% its an email/internet image, the fax machine is just a token auto jpg printer
The only thing worse than a dot-matrix printer is a fax machine.
The last one I worked with wouldn't work without a weight in a certain place on the cabinet. Someone took a stone from the foyer display and put it there. I added a do-not-touch note: This machine will not work unless it is stoned.
@Scott Kramer still old school fax, still comment in business. Sometimes you are just not near a computer. Happens often at dealerships and closing for a mortgage.
