If you have the financial means to do so comfortably, I say do it. It's help the economy, it's an extremely rare amp and a once in a lifetime purchase, and easy to offload if need be with small loses.

It ended up being shy of a "yolo" purchase, turns out I do have the cash for it (though I might do a partial credit term with my bank just to space out the payment, plus interest rates are super low these days).

Using SF to send should be okay. But check who they hand off to if they don't have their own service in the destination country. For example, they use UPS in the US and Canada.

Sometimes it just feels a bit too close for comfort. Two years back my manager and I were working on a project in Amsterdam. He had a few return trip options. One of those dates was the day MH17 was shot down.

Just don't fly Egyptian or Malaysian airlines and you will be fine.

It was found out Malaysian Airlines choose a less safe route for the MH17 to save on fuel. So when an airline is known for such decisions, avoid them at all costs...
