        USB is better than AES?

Maybe, but USB has many issues. For most, AES, I2S, or SPDIF is better. The USB side of a DAC is typically powered from the source including clocks. Many computers/streamers use switching power supplies creating noise and ripples on the 5V USB, but Raspberry Pi 4B with a linear power supply can be good. NOTE: Do not connect any other equipment to it (keyboard, mouse, monitor, or Ethernet).

Congrats! If i can ever afford to own a pair, they are on my wish list after hearing them on the loaner tour...and that was just with my little Gungnir Multibit / Lyr3 setup. (although now i also have a ZDT Jr and curious how that sounds) Enjoy those babies!

The Focal Clear is really nice. Quite detailed and neutral. Decent bass for an open, dynamic headphone. My only complaint (but minor for me) is the sound stage is very small.

@Cspirou I got the cabling from Digikey. It seemed higher quality than some of the other outlets. The cables have a DC barrel 2.1mm x 5.5mm on one end with bare wire on the other which is just screwed down on the posts of an Acopian Linear Power Supply

At present, I have two HE-500s, three HD600s, two ATH-AD700s, and two Koss Porta Pros. For the rest of my headphones, I just have one.

I preferred the focus over stock pleather, velour and alpha pads on mine sonically

At present, I'm really switching between the velour and Focus pads at this time. I really did not like the stock leather pads from a sound quality perspective.

I found that the velour pads are quite good. The mids are just a little more pronounced, so a more intimate sound. The Focus pads get a little more bass and seem to even out the treble, so perhaps a more neutral sound. Both are good, but I'm starting to prefer the Focus pads.
