Chester Bennington of Linkin Park dead. Don't listen to them much, but reminds me of my youth whenever I hear them.

Ouch. Didn't really like their newest albums, but... ouch. RIP.

Hybrid Theory and Meteora got me through middle and high school. Still listen to both those albums from time to time. Can't believe he's gone. I feel so sorry for his family, the man has 6 kids.

Yep, many good memories of their early albums, which I still listen to occasionally as well. RIP

I don't think it's snake oil. Tubes have a lot of downsides in terms of energy requirements and compactness. The article says this is for guitar pedals which really have limits in terms of using tubes. I consider this similar to the Nutube.

Hm, it does have some interesting electrical properties. The main difference from a NuTube is that this actually doesn't require a vacuum. Hell, they mount these things on sim cards for their testing!

Could have interesting uses in solid state amps in the future. Providing a few circuits with different tunings the same way some DAC manufactures provide different filters would be cool.

650 has arrived. Not disappointed at all. Should keep me happy for quite a while.

HD650 ordered. Gotta spend part of that tax return on something frivolous.

I don't even remember what the stock hd650 sounds like anymore, listen to it for 30m when I first got it and modded immediately, haven't had the open-back headphone itch since.
It's all amps and dacs now.

No time to mod for at least a couple months. I think I'll get to it sometime this year though.

Waiting for the right deal on a HD650. Seems stupidly expensive in Canada.

Amazon UK is a great suggestion. I just checked new shipped to USA and paid with USD - USD 271.53. I have seen them for less, there. And I don't know how that would translate to you in Canada, but probably too high right now.

The lowest price I have seen, from a business, is $250 USD shipped to USA. I don't know how that would work out in Canada. It was amazon.com "Used Like New" from Amazon Warehouse Deals. I bought one and it was truly "Like New".

Unfortunately amazon warehouse doesn't ship to Canada.

I checked Amazon UK and I could get a new pair to Canada for around $400 cdn all in. That's $100-150 cheaper than most Canadian retailers.

I'll keep watching Amazon UK, seems like one of the best possibilities.

What audio equipment brings you the most joy? Portapros in a ski helmet with a bt adapter and a tiny fiio amp makes me smile like an idiot.
