What we now know is ever changing, and I see no evidence showing that we have come close to the limits of what there is to understand.

What is provable will change, and what is true may never be provable.

Valid according to what criteria, and what evidence is there that definitively demonstrates that that criteria is valid?

EDIT: @jexby It’s a worthwhile debate if only to highlight the fallacies peddled by those in search of the one truth.

Almost all the important changes I make in my audio system are non measurable...except by my ears...But chosing between 2 Sansui amplifier for example can help the choice if you read about their fundamental measures numbers in all count: impedance, etc

Not entirely surprising, until one starts independently moving around at 85hz, 100hz, 120hz etc. Mouse movement in CS/Quake 3 was a thing of beauty at 120hz. (For those less versed this requires a framerate of equal value, and at the time a mouse capable and configured to achieve the same update rate).

These guys recently did a decent little test of high fps/refresh sniping, it illustrates the point well.

The best thing about them - some, at least - was the wall warts: 5V, 1A, linear. They can still be found cheap on ebay; great for eg Raspberry Pi projects.

Oh god, the high pitched squeal and flickering. Looked dirty too, but at least good picture quality and no motion blur.

V-Sync is for chumps now, though, because of input lag. Async with capped frame rate just below refresh rate for best of all worlds.

The 240Hz LCDs these days have shit picture quality, but the clean nature, no squeal, no flickering, and essentially negligible pixel response times make it so worth it on fast paced FPS games.

Have an Alienware 240hz with G-Sync and can confirm it rocks. ULMB is also nice too if only it didn't cost so much brightness and is capped at 144hz.

I never did get that LS120 drive I wanted! Probably a good thing as Plextor CDRWs soon came along.

Mate, have you played Brutal Doom with the Extermination Day campaign? It’s one of the best FPS games I’ve played in years, or ever come to think of it. BR is intense, and every shot just feels amazing.

The mod is easy to find but the the campaign and updated music are posted somewhere on the patreon blog.

I had to give up on FPS games. Counter Strike is also super stressful and ups your cortisol through the roof. You have to play regularly if you want to avoid getting pwned. I can't compete against NEETs who play 10 hours a day in their moms basement.

    “Mein leben!!!”

I loved Wolfenstein. Funny coincidence, I bought this game when I was in high school, and picked up a set of Koss Porta Pros (my first “expensive” set of headphones) at the same time - from Radio Shack if I recall.

    Simpler times.
