        Sometimes the best bands convey emotions better than technical skill. It is what makes Chuck Berry more fun than many others. Not the best guitarist but he conveyed the joy of being free and having fun. The Beach Boys copied that by the way ("Surfin").

        Oh I'm not talking about technical skill, I like all sorts of blues and punk and whatnot. I just mean that even if they have a sort of rainy-day vibe I find their music pretty "blah" now. I don't feel compelled to listen to them outside of a couple songs I revisit every few years. They aren't awful. But they are one of those bands in the classic rock pantheon and I don't think they deserve a slot.
