I’m just going to break this thing in by listening to music, but is tube amp burn-in a real thing, or nervosa/audioph00lery?

When I got my Jot 2, I couldn’t wait to hear it but was worried about moisture because it was ice cold. So I put it into the oven at about 40 °C for some 10 minutes or so, and afterwards, it was perfectly warm and dry. That’s the real burn-in! ;)

Tube amp burn in is a thing in that the tubes need a few hours to burn in (20ish give or take), and any capacitors in the signal path need burn in. I've had capacitors need as much as 500 hours burn in before leveling out.

@gixxerwimp I don’t take anything for granted. I had the HD650 out, so gave it a long listen with ol’ M3.

@ckhirnigs I have always wanted a “real” tube amp. Don’t like spending >$2k on component. Seemed like good $/perf.

Current HA is Taurus MKII. When QS arrived, both fed by Gungnir MB SE via separate Khozmo PreAmps. Should be great.

Amp shipped today. Should show up sometime next week. Hopefully before weekend.

@caute Never heard the A1. Since I use USB frequently, I should upgrade to Unison at some point.

Whatever you do, don't sell it until you've done lengthy comparisons with any contenders. And even if you decide to "upgrade", stick it in the closet for a while in case you change your mind. No ragrets.

Do you notice any difference between nozzles on Kato? Are you using the tips that came with it or did you go straight to aftermarket?

@DigMe I haven’t compared nozzles. I took off silver and went with bronze ASAP. Using stock tips. Will try Comply foam.

Kicking myself I never tried foam tips with the 7hz before I sold them, or any others than the stock tips—I ordered some penon audio tips per @rhythmdevils's suggestion, but they cancelled my order bc it was too small ($4.99 or something like that) and then never refunded me lol.

If I had tried different tips I might not have sold them, ugh...

@rhythmdevils When I CAN get a good seal with silicone tips, I do enjoy the music. The Blessing2 and Kato sound good with silicone tips.

Jury is still out on the 7Hz Timeless and silicone tips. I can't get a good seal, so I'm going to try after-market foam tips.

Dongles are all about synergy IME. Mostly they are side-grades from one another but they have improved over the years. Just don’t waste too much money chasing and succumbing dongle madness.

@shotgunshane That’s sound advice. I notice a bit of difference w/dragonfly red, but tbh… not worth $ or hassle.
