I'm not much cop at electrical soldering, but I've done cables, and it is so much easier than stuff on boards where fine traces can just burn away!

(hey, re-soldered a fine cable inside my mouse the other day: quite proud of that!)

I’ve used the screw connecters in the past when making my own. Seemed like a good solution and sounded good but not sure if it’s considered inferior.

I’m pretty sure they have crimp RCA connectors. I agree with @Vansen too, it’s probably the hardest thing to solder as all that extra copper sucks up the heat.

@Merrick It was pretty good, but I found the bass a little too uncontrolled relative to Gungnir to my Quicksilver. Not a fair fight, but interesting difference.

Not exactly the same thing, but Gungnir > Piety is really quite good.

I did that to a Magni 3+, was surprised how capable the little Magni is.

I’ve got Modi fronted by the SU-6, and I must say… I sure don’t feel compelled to upgrade. Plays well with my gear.

There's something different... and more to my liking... with the SU-6 in the chain. Not HUGE difference, but something... I can't put my finger on it.

Next step: ditch usb entirely and go with a streamer...

I have nothing but positive experience with DDCs and streamers. I don't have SU-6 but had Gustard U18 and it was good

@luckybaer In favor of your point, one could read a paper contending that Karajan eventually prioritized sound effects over the deep aspects of music, and still have only a vague idea of what that's like as a musical experience OR one could simply listen to any of his recordings from the 70s on youtube (say, his Brahms' 4th from 1977).

I’m just going to break this thing in by listening to music, but is tube amp burn-in a real thing, or nervosa/audioph00lery?

When I got my Jot 2, I couldn’t wait to hear it but was worried about moisture because it was ice cold. So I put it into the oven at about 40 °C for some 10 minutes or so, and afterwards, it was perfectly warm and dry. That’s the real burn-in! ;)

Tube amp burn in is a thing in that the tubes need a few hours to burn in (20ish give or take), and any capacitors in the signal path need burn in. I've had capacitors need as much as 500 hours burn in before leveling out.
