CEE TEE and audio testers are throwing off the metrics!

Funny enough, I think my most played track might be the "this is the left channel, this is the right channel" voice for testing stereo connections.

For some reason, if I like the 8th track on an album (when there are at least 8 tracks), I tend to like the whole album. No idea why.

And in terms of technical performance, it's a no-contest; the Wavedream beats the pants off of my Yggdrasil. What amazes me the most are the highs; the highs have none of the R2R ringing or edge, yet are so refined, smooth, and have amazing textural reproduction

@MellowVelo there are other differences that I'll outline in an eventual impressions post (or can answer in PM). To be absolutely clear, I still like and recommend the Yggdrasil GS and am keeping mine. One of these two DACs will be going in the two channel rig once I get a few things set up

Actually, that’s what I liked most about Qobuz when I switched from Spotify: No personalised playlists (at the time, but it’s still not much). Everybody sees the same front page. Browsing like at a record store, because no algorithm chooses what to hear for you.
I had already gone to a bit more album listening before, but only with Qobuz it reached high levels again.

Yeah that’s basically what I mean - the market there has a lot more blurred lines in sharing engineers/OEM’s/etc. It’s the same reason why the Chi-Fi tube market seems to have multiple variations of the same tube under different brands.

I'm less worried about the IP and more worried about "OK, but how are these 20 Chinese R2R DACs all different from each other?".

The worst I've heard about Musician is non-existent customer service. Very buyer beware with them.

@Merrick SMSL also has a high-end rohm DAC (the VMV D2R), though I've no idea of its quality. (I actually technically tried it at CanJam with the P2 but I don't think that's a good environment for actually assessing a DAC. I will say the P2/D2R combo didn't sound bad to me though.)

@Eric Rosenfield Thanks, I didn’t know about this one! I personally would hesitate to buy a $1k SMSL unit, they don’t seem to make the most reliable gear, but I would like to hear it.

I get very annoyed when I see people putting stuff on top of speakers!

Especially so called audiophiles who also have a collection of fine china that they keep on shelves in the same room.

I really think we need some help in the iem space, which is moving at the speed of light. Every review is so different on the same iem, or everything is positive....you wonder if they are just paid to say good things about everything they get sent.

I won't say names, but I've definitely skimmed full multi page reviews before where I knew just as much about the product before vs after reading.

A lot of the reason I like videogames is because many of them put real effort into the soundtrack. I got sucked into Final Fantasy MMO land because I went to a Distant Worlds concert and liked the music that much. The soundtrack quality still hasn't slipped, years later.

I have a large head with a slight ridge. I do think these will fit better and be more comfortable for folks with smaller heads with me.

@ChaChaRealSmooth have you noticed the lack of sub-bass extension?

Nope. Don't know what people are complaining about there. Doin' It Right has a 37 Hz note and it's played pretty cleanly here. I didn't even notice it had any rolloff/the shelf below 60 Hz until I saw some measurements after I listened.

Surprisingly, Magni Piety is not bad with Heddphone 2. I suspect better synergy though with Pietus and MJ3. Heddphone 2 definitely benefits from more power. Awful with Starlett.

JAR buddies unite ! JAR650 leaves nothing to be desired for me. Need to grab a JAR600 again eventually.

@ext1 certainly has the Midas touch. HD660S is indefensibly shit in stock form, but JAR660S is super satisfying mid-fi with few sins of commission. I can only imagine what his higher end headphones can accomplish.
