Currently subscribe to Apple Music, but finding a good third party EQ app that pairs nicely is exhausting. Need to take -3db off the 4-6khz range for JVC HA-FDX1.

If you listen at home then Roon works fine for EQ with Qobuz and Tidal. With Spotify we get basic EQ. There are some apps that work for Spotify but they are basic at best.

@rhythmdevils They might not be anything special, and you'd have dodged a bullet. Everyone has bought these blind. It would've been nice if they offered up a few units to be demoed somewhere first, but I guess they didn't have to.

CVT -Constant Volatge transformer will help in providing constant voltage and help against spike as well. But they need to be keep out of listening room or Servo transformer can help.as well.

Isn't that a sign that your starter cap in your AC motor is going bad. I wonder if you replaced it would it improve the voltage spikes on the rest of your line.

I know best buy gets a bad rap for most stuff but their car audio installers are very knowledgeable. I would stop by your local BB and talk to the installer (not the blue shirt, but the geek squad guy in the install area) to find out exactly what speakers you have and what you can do to get the sound you're looking for.

I worked at best buy and trained to be an installer and it was a tough course so they should generally be pretty good. The guy at my store had been in the business for 20+ years.

Can headamps designed for electrostatics also be used for planars and dynamics?

I wrote HiFiMan customer service to ask if they plan on releasing a high-end amplifier that's less expensive than the rarely seen EF1000 ($12k). I told them I have planar and dynamic headphones, and they recommended the Jade II. "Isn't that exclusively for electrostatic headphones?" I asked, to which they replied "It will work great, you just need an adapter".

Lol, it's possible but it would be madness to do it that way in your case. It's basically a transformer to convert the voltage up and down, works for Stax headphones as well.

But as default option for planar and dynamic... they've got to be joking.

If you find one or more Gen V's at a good price, let me know. I borrowed clem's Gen V for a couple months and it's the best DAC I've ever heard for my own preferences. PCM63s are magical, and the analog implementation is incredible. Such a liquid and dynamic sound, and *amazing* bass

I've never had a high-end Schiit DAC at home for direct comparison in my own system, though I've heard all of them multiple times on separate occasions and at meets and at the Schiitr and whatnot. I borrowed @Clemmaster 's Gen V for a couple months though, and I miss it frequently.

Not confident enough to make any sweeping statements in terms of comparison w/ Schiit DACs until I can do direct comparison, but the Gen V immediately stands out as being a slamming, ballsy, slightly warm DAC, and I've never heard bass with a better texture or dynamic rendering.

All I know is that queueing up the Gen V after a few days of warm-up was one of my most memorable moments in the hobby.

By far the flattest and easiest to sleep in for me are the Shures. Have a look at the SE215 if you want a relatively inexpensive place to start, they're not the most ultra-hifi sound ever- very warm, but are comfy and robust as hell. I've drifted off accidentally with those in a few times now, with no ill effects.

      Hey friend,
New to the forum but I wanted to reach out and get an updated opinion on your pranafidelity monitors. I just got back from the show in the Newport area and fell in love with their sound.

Could you give me your opinion based on your time with them? What do you have driving them?

      Thanks!
