Love me some tubes, but I won't spend hundreds of dollars for unicorn dust coated tubes. Got a nice primary NOS set for each piece of kit and enough reputably-sourced backups to keep the gear going for years to come.

According to the owner it’sa high frequency humm 16-17 khz constant at all volumes. Headphone listening only in one channel. Left channel. Tried multiple tubes and always the same

Also tried other outlets on the home. Also note it uses the mercury vapor rectifier

I would think with tube quality ruled out. It could be the hf ac heater.

Contrary to many ZMF Aegis owners there, I find the Aegis to be a planar centric tube amp than a DD amp. It drove the Caldera Closed and Susvara to their best of abilities while it was so-so with the Atrium where ampsandsound amps synergized better with it

The high and low impedance switch on the Aegis is more transformative than many other amps I have tried. I was nervous about planars on it, but pleasantly surprised how good it is!

I thought the RD-X handily destroyed the 2021+ LCD-X as well.

Semi-dead or something not right also works. Only part that needs to work is the pot

The bass is addictive. Actually loved the combo with Sony Walkman and the bass is as good as I get from my Fir CIEM

As I recall, you can buy the new pad mounting ring from HFM and just use the 4 screw locations on your current driver and skip the extra two.
Very easy.

Not necessarily...but if someone had a set that they were not using I could help them get them off their hands.

Reason why is that I just just blew a pair due to an improper voltage regulator.

My A1 has vent holes.

@rott So you can see into the circuit board? I heard that some old D/S versions were open to the boards inside and that were closed up with the MB upgrade. I have never seen it though

@Ksorota you're right - my A1 MB does have an internal covering that prevents actually seeing the internals through the vent holes on top.

I was wondering if the A2 made it redundant, but never was able to track down that note. I know the A1 was a bit gray sounding and the gumfreya cleared it up. Is the A2 void of any grayness?

I am going to go for it and put up an ad for a Gungnir MB to mod for GumFreya, but if anyone already has one already setup, I would also be interested in that! Save me a step!
