Remember Prince during the Super Bowl? He went all out, "Purple Rain" with guitar solo and it kept pouring. He was beyond Metal, had Soul and was just having fun. The story alone, it is inspiring.

My father's case is likely mostly due to the streptomycin given him when hospitalized with pleurisy in 1969-70. The measurements are from 2021 (at age 98), but he was pretty bad even back in the 70s & 80s, behaving much as you describe immediately above :) His latest hearing aid, though (L only - there's obviously no help for R), is pretty effective - and doesn't have a volume knob that he can turn down.

I remember streptomycin in childhood. There's plenty of over-loud stuff that I did to myself, but that's another thing to add to my possibles list, along with measles. Thing is I /never/ could converse over a background noise. Talk to a woman at a party? Forget it! :/.

I just love that there is a band, especially of two young women, with this name. Quirky songs. But that's the deal.

I've only had durian once at a market in St. Martin, but it was one of the most wild sensory rollercoasters I've ever experienced. And the reactions of passers-by while I carefully cut it open was funny. That's some stinky shit! But good lord is it delicious!!!

Besides the medical term I've always associated "Atrium" with "gathering place" since that's how the parlance translates here, even if it doesn't always overlap with the classical architectural definition. Language nuance is fun and idiotic!
