I feel like TtH was a bit more coherent than the last three books. It seemed like a lot of the things coming together made more sense even though it's still wild and a little obtuse. I like the anything goes the feeling and the weirdness that never goes away in the malazam books

I read the whole series some ten years ago. Worth it.

@YMO when I got a ZDT Jr. in on extended loan the first thing I played on it was music from Haruhi Suzumiya.

I'm not an expert on the matter, I just know that the groove contours are a little different on a 45 than a 33. Regardless, it sounds damn good

Faster groove speed means a given frequency will have a longer wavelength. Might enable the stylus to better track the highs.

I suspect that it is like tape: faster=better.

Is it, literally, faster=less-data-compression?

I'd vote for a Technics 1500C for a TT. Save some money off the 1200 line by losing DJ features. For carts: 2M Bronze, DL103(R), or AT-ART9. I initially went for an equivalent Pro-Ject, but it didn't work out, and I returned for a 1200GR, which I was much more impressed by.

That said, I think the Technics weak point is its tonearm. You could mod down the line with various drop-in arms, but you'd get quite a distance with the 1500C as is.

Very heavy though (45g).

I prefer the higher weight of the zirc to the almost cheap feeling all titanium pins being so light. And it's virtually unscratchable

And that's not too disparage TI, but I definitely don't mind the extra grams.

The SA-1 is a fantastic amp. How you feel about the SA-1/HD650 combo?

@Poleepkwa it is an adequate combination. It runs at fine, but you get a little more bump with the Crack. The SA-1 makes the Verum sound like an apex can. Crazy bass control and a great tonality overall.

James is as good as you could expect after 40 years, but Lars and Kirk are getting sloppy. I grew up listening to Neil Peart, John Bonham and Keith Moon, so Lars never really impressed me to begin with lol

Looks like Expanded only has a few tracks from Moscow, whereas the Deluxe Box Set has the whole concert

@gixxerwimp the tidal version of the album has all the tracks. Something like 10 disc's worth total. It's huge. I'm just disappointed that my hometown show from the Arco Arena sounds like a bootleg

I have mixed feelings about all-inclusives. They are relaxing and all but at the same time I’m very much an experience guy and I never feel like l’m really getting that local experience as much as I could be.

@DigMe for us, it has been a net positive, since we just wanted to sit back and relax. But there are plenty of excursions and activities from going to the temples, to visiting the reef. The only thing we've done this week outside the resort is go shopping in Playa del Carmen.

Tried for a week, couldn't get Qobuz to work with roon, same sort of error.

I’ve had the same problem a couple of times over the years.
Each time different cause and solutions:
1. Core-endpoint connection problem: Changed endpoint connection from wifi to LAN
2. Problem with the tidal account itself: made a new account
3. Core-endpoint problem: Changed from RAAT connection to Squeezelite
4. Slow internet (tidal app would work but Roon wouldn’t) Changed to a much faster internet plan

but I haven’t had this problem in the past 2 years.

My old pm3 balanced cable was from surf cables, but the termination was about a millimeter too long, so it would short one of the channels if inserted all the way. Hart got the proper length on the termination.

Oh, that's a shame! I've used Surf Cables a lot and never had any issues. I do think Hart's stuff is nicer though, and less expensive.

It caused that issue with my old AK 100ii, and my sr25, but no other 2.5 mm cable was a misfit.

The price is right, and they're 32 ohms, so easy to drive. They look more comfortable than Grados too. @YMO, The youtube guy said they are on the warm/bassy side, so unless he's deaf, they're probably not too tipped up. SBAF should at least kick the tires, imo

Just hard to trust when you had multiple experiences with their products. We are human.

In fairness, they could sound like shit, but I like the company and wouldn't mind hearing them. But in this price range nothing really touches the Verum v.2. Made by a douche or not...

Still love the Sony WM1A even after two years.

@imackler just the pro version with thx amps. Whether through my oppo pm-3 or my fh7s, it has that semi - flat sound through the midrange. Even a Cirrus logic-based hidizs dongle is sounding better to me.
