At least a good set of cello strings still bring musical joy

I'll have to give that one another listen. Three of his solo Beethoven recordings are particularly worth-hearing. His very imaginative, but also coherent, Op. 27/1. His tightly structured but still quite virtuosic 32 Variations in C minor. And his bold, albeit ultimately uncompelling, attempt to play Op. 27/2 according to the tempo markings.

They may adopt certain features later, but generally they turn out in the whole to be much more refined as a package compared to their targeted competition (with very decent supported lifetimes), which tons of people worldwide look forward to getting their hands on. But yes, the Keynotes are somewhat silly at this point, exercises in over-production to keep the masses excited over what's already expected.

I think they make great products! Just don't like how they make it out like they were so innovative....first ever.....industry leading....IP86 Water resistance....it just rubs me off poorly.

Yeah that's why I was asking. Was interested in getting them with cohesion being a factor that irked me slightly with the solaris and the mild raspiness from the scooped mids...then I'm like...should I just get the 8XX and screw iems altogether?

If as of late you use mostly headphones, get 8XX. If not, think about it. I enjoy my Ara even if it is BA ville, but the 2k-8k can get on my nerves on some recordings.

I just have a modern cello, but decent cello strings from larsen or spirocore cost a lot. almost 400 for a set, and strings usually are supposed to be changed every 120hrs....4 hrs of playing that's every month, but we don't abide by those rules strictly ><.

Crap. I thought it was expensive paying for a piano tuning once or twice a year.

@Cellist88 I didn't know you were a custom connoisseur. What is your opinion of the tangering switches? I've mostly only played with Zealios and Zealiostotles.

I think they are great! Prob one of the best linears out there. smooth stock, but you should lube and film them for the best sound. I have a sound comparison here for zealios vs tangerines.

Curious how GoldPoint would get a 'sound'...resistor selection? It is just resistors in the path, plus whatever rollof the cable capacitance might introduce, no? What am I missing?

I have no answer other than it sounds different. It definitely smooths and cleans up the dirt of the Yggdrasil. Atomicbob did measurements so I can't say anything from that point but @pure5152 feels the same sentiment
