One thing that I can say is that I like the Yggdrasil+ chassis and the remote, a lot. It looks better. And there are two input selection button on the remote, you can forward and backward digital inputs, instead circling forward only.

Having a busy winter, haven't had enough time to listen carefully. One thing for sure, the OG and LIM are equally superb.

Interested in reading your comparison between the two when you've had time to compare.

Funny to think of going back to the OG as an upgrade.

I am sorry if the word confused you. OG (AD5791) is one of the "Yggdrasil upgrades" options on the schiit official website. I bet if I wrote "sidegrade to OG" as an "order", it would be more confusing.

Ha, yeah I was a bit confused. Went to the Schiit site to clear things up. It's definitely listed as an "upgrade", but it's more like a retro "flavour change" ;)

I had the HD650, then KISS mod, and LCD2C for many years, changed several HP amps, all sounded good. But this combo have me sold. I read the recent combo tread on SBAF, but the combo is so good that I finically understand what the word “synergy” in the headphone domain. Synergy in in speakers systems are bit different, more predictable to me.

@Woland. Thank you. I searched the forum but I can only find @roshambo123 's comments on Gungnir MB A1 and Yggdrasil GS. I could only triangulate from that post, and other posts compare the Gungnir MB A2 and these different versions of Yggdrasil DACs. Anyway, I will wait until the LIM fully break in.

That's correct, I didn't have Gungnir MB A1 and LIM at the same time. LIM is more different than GS and A2 are from each other and I'd say A2 is the closest in signature to Gungnir MB A1. LIM is a different animal. Darker, more blackground, and smoothed over.

Only other thing I will point out is that LS50 design for the coaxial tweeter mean they have some level of a waveguide to narrow the directivity and reduce sidewall and floor/ceiling reflections. The S40 would almost definitely be a wider dispersion, so depending on how you set them up and how far away you are, you’re likely getting more reflections from the frequencies covered by tweeter on the S40.

I had a brand new pair at home demo just a couple days ago. Got pretty mixed feelings about them - silky/delicate sounding treble, but midrange is just off somehow. Bass was excellent - taut and snappy. (Amp: AVM C9)
