I have a cabinet full of lenses. I've lost count (although it is modest compared to some). I don't mind admitting to being a collector. I don't mind saying that buying and having all this stuff is a hobby in itself and I'd buy more if I could afford it.

On the other hand, I never had any great desire to have more than one in-use headphone! But, to many here, that is an equivalent to collecting lenses.

I went ahead with used 28 and 100 manual lenses for my kit. Oldies but goodies. Too close, step back; too far, step forward.

@joch yes! If I had one tip for photographers it would be to *move your body more*

The FiiO? Nice. The world needs more good affordable headphones. Is it a proper closed back headphone or is it more semi open? Would be curious how well it scales up with gear.

@Lyander I was trying the Shanling CD transport. I think if you still have CDs this is the way to go.

My brain completely got it backwards. I had the FiiO FT1 in mind, these similar-format names are all very confusing to me haha.

Their Coffey Grain is one of my favourites! From The Barrel is also very nice, plus the bottle is so f'ing cute.

Whiskey is actually nicer, and better value, than whisky :)

@Riotvan it’s alright really, just stuff that I won’t have time for. Philosophically, some things are meant to be forgotten.

Might be controversial, but I’ve always preferred the 800S/8XX to the OG, even when modded. The upsides outweighed the downsides imo.

@Mystic I know what you mean because the OG had been out for a while and people got used to that. The S/XX has nearly the same capabilities but people still expect an “upgraded” version. Even the OG has high/mid/low serial differentiations. As to a JAR version, @Riotvan man that’s a lot of greens and the headphones are separate.

Yeah, they sometimes show up in FS here though so you might want to keep an eye out.

What changed for the 2024 version?

If it was brought in-line with the more recent LCD-2 I heard a couple years ago, I'd be worried. LCD 2/3/4 has tended to enshittify over time. I think all of them peaked with their original 1st gen releases

Apple Music as part of family plan. I probably still end up just playing the usual music from a drive off the Pi2 like I have for the last several years.

I had hoped that this and the Porta-Pro would make a nice budget pair, but they weren’t good together. The ZMF was a nice surprise.

One of the greats. Sad day but he and MJ can hang out again.

I don’t have experience with the K series, but the J and the Q are pretty good. The Q is good value but you’re limited to just coffee for yourself per grind.

Not many others in the family care about non-instant coffee but yeah my main concern with the J series is that it seems mainly made for espresso which I'm not too fond of. The ZP-6 is forerunner so far though, I was just worried about it robbing the beans I like of too much body but I suppose I could just pour more slowly.

I think if you want the balance of body without making the notes blend/taste like mashed potatoes, K-Ultra full stop. Makes 2-cup pour overs per grind and is all-rounder for the cup profile. No thin body unlike the ZP6 and unimodal flat burrs

It’s crazy when you move from the 3F/N to another amp, and it just sounds wrong.

I'm not a particular fan of the Utopia - it's great but just not quite for me, inc. from my Stratus - but I always fondly recall hearing it anew from my buddy's 3F. One of those beautiful, clear, rich, sparkly sounds that stays with you.

Getting back into work after a weekend is tough :-)
