I'm interested in seeing some reputable impressions of this, having just had to retire my OG first run Jot because it became a bit electric shocky. I have a spot on a desk for nice-sounding but unassuming SS headamp and class "A" with the mesh DAC does appeal. Lunatics.

What's the difference between Bigby and Yggdrasil+ with Singular analog? If it's only the DSP, will the new DSP card/Bigby internals work with Multibit analog cards and will it make a difference to performance?

^This was going to also be my question. What is the function of the high capacity DSP card? Does just changing to Singular Analog cards shortchange their potential without the new DSP board?

My reading of “high capacity” there was similar to what they’ve talked about with Gungnir 2 and Unison 384 - the DSP needed to be revamped to accommodate the “384” part, which I’m thinking also applies to the new SPDIF with its “programmable oscillators.” I’m not @schiit, though.

@Brian D Thanks for the heads up about it being mentioned in that thread. Sounds more like the release window is later this year. "summer might be a tad optimistic, I'm afraid."

@schiit can you elaborate yet on what's going to happen with bifrost 2 please ?

Yes. They said a few times they are going to make sure the IOS app is completely ironed out before working on Android. Sometime next year ETA.

Just a heads up, B-stock Tyr and Freya+ are more expensive than the Last Call prices now

The big fat ugly caveat is that 1 in 1000 enthusiast has the skillset to build analogue filter in front of the amp - and there is no universality. Schiit would have to build the speaker as well.

I’m glad to see the A1/GS having a moment again. I’ve enjoyed mine for over seven years. It remains one of the best DACs around. At this price, it’s an absolute steal.

Truly insane that for $1699 + $699 you can have a TOTL DAC and amp. Get some modestly priced speakers and be done forever. My 2008 self is jealous.

I've slightly skimming in/out of the Yggdrasil thread since it has never been on my radar. This new unit pulls on the want rope. Will these be limited run, or will the new run of chips keep things going for a little. Always afraid of the day the SFD decides to skip town.

@RestoredSparda I definitely have a Bifrost USB 2.0 and maybe an Uber Analog board too clanging around in a drawer somewhere, also.

@M3NTAL They’re on a wait and see approach so far, but if it seems to be doing well in the initial run, MIB could be a permanent fixture, yeah.

@YMO I didn’t find Jot 2 or Lyr (3 at least) aggressive either. In fact most seem to agree Lyr is somewhat laid back. However If you tried the Lyr with a JJ tube, there is some harshness/hardness with that tube that I couldn’t deal with either. But vintage Raytheon tubes work great and gets me closest to the bloom from Vali 2 (never heard Vali 2+) with the improved clarity, refinement and other improvements.
