Follow up: boy were we idiots to think we could manage this... luckily Molly, the cow dog, is now with a good foster. She is adorable, and easy. Johnny had a very difficult time with the added complexity.

But, goodness, there's some beauty in his dogness that so reminds me of my girl Tucker. My GF said it so well: sometimes the dogs that are the hardest road take us to places we'd never imagined possible.

@RestoredSparda I do the same with my current dog. I also have a wallpaper on my phone of my last dog who left us far too soon. Lots of love for my current dog too of course.

We're only fostoring for about a week. We wouldn't have jumped into something like this so soon, but she popped up with the organization where we found Tucker (shameless plug: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/), and she shares her name with both my, and my GF's mothers. So, something a little cosmic at work.

Whatever time and love you can invest in fostering will be returned in multiples by the dog once placed in a forever home. People who foster make such a difference in animal welfare.

Neuro is greatly improved, she's climbing/descending stairs w/o assistance, and platelet count is spectacular. but bad GI response (poss. ulcer) for 7 days now is taking a toll. Just want to get my little girl the recovery she deserves after such a hard fought battle to still chase squirrels.

Hope she does better soon. You better go warn those squirrels in the meantime.

Nothing shows the Decent in 'Decent Human Being' like how they respond to a sick animal and its person.

And SBAF has a heap of Super Best Decent Human Beings.

Other than my wife, no one matters as much to me as my dogs. I wish Tucker nothing but the best. Paws and tails crossed here.

We have hospice dogs and have found them to be stunningly resilient. May Tucker be the same.

This made my day as well. Hope Tucker is on a positive recovery path and enjoys much more time with her loving family.

She's still not able to stand (hence the handi-harness), but right now we're planning to have her home on Monday, as long as we can get her off the IV and feeding/drinking

@Thad E Ginathom I'm so sorry to hear that. Best wishes and keep hoping for better news. We're lucky to learn today that Tucker's condition is stable but improving ever so slightly. I can't begin to express how stressful it is to try to focus every fiber of being into a laserbeam of telekinetic well-wishing to a sick, tired, and scared doggy miles away, but that's what my GF and I have been trying do.

@internethandle her first panel from saturday evening was 35k platelet count. This morning she's at 80k, so, per the internist, we're out of the danger zone but still have a way to go. Neuro wants to wait 48-ish hours to let the steroids plus some anti brain-swelling do their thing, but secondary options are a chemo med, and thirdly a tranfus. I'm hopeful for no transfus.

But hopefully Tucker has many, many bones to chew yet. Again, best wishes.
