@Cellist88 I have plugged both outputs into my Liquid Crimson and my impressions don’t match that last post in the MIB thread at all. They sounded the same tonallly with the direct SE outs having less haze/ more clarity vs XLR with transformers. But need to compare again properly.

I’m on the fence about the mib, but value proposition of good friends here makes it hard for me to justify 2x the cost of the og dacs. I would use it Se, hence the interest but if it’s just a side grade I can just wait.

My HD800-JAR created by @ext1 fits my personal preferences at such a high level that it is not likely to be displaced by any other headphone. This is my reference.

JAR660 fulfils a similar role for me. Tone is to die for and technicalities are sufficient, within the context of being fairly source agnostic. I can only imagine what JAR800 out of a high end setup sounds like.

How can we hear one of these and is it better than Utopia? :)

That's the very thing that also fueled my tube nervosa of messing with perfection. Once you find that synergy, I had to hoard said tubes that = that synergy machine to make sure you had enough to keep the party going for a long time. Glad you found that sweet spot though!

I have two beer glasses I got from Belgium that have particular value to me. One of them has the name Prof that I thought was cool since I just earned my PhD. When I bought the glass the shop owner just casually tells me that I bought a 70 year old glass and that the beer doesn’t exist anymore. Not sure I can find a replacement that easily
