I tried to talk the kids out of seeing Dr Dolittle, but my youngest said: "I do not care about reviews, I might like it!" Feb 2, 2020

The Esi [email protected] has to be my best audio purchases this year by far. Bought too feed the Modi, but the DAC section is really good too. SUBBASS!

There was a long thread on gearslutz with loopback comparisons. The [email protected] was at the top of the list with gear costing vastly more

But oh so hard to get good analogue in/out internal sound cards now. DAC makers and their buyers have destroyed the market.
I'd still be using my old (and first good) RME card, but it makes funny noises now. Like me!

Indeed. I was very surprised. Kinda funny there was huge hoopla over the Xonar series and to my ears this is quite a bit better. Even considering selling the Modi now...

It's certainly less muscular in the bass than some of the bigger Moffat DACs. Some of that might just be down to power supply design, mind.

The true answer may be a bit of everything - effective resolution, power design, output stage and other stuff. It's still a great-sounding DAC for the money, if you feed it properly, though. Clean, low-jitter non-mobo SPDIF and clean power, then into an amp that itself has clean power gets you a long way.

Good to see someone here enjoying Meze99. Its really really comfortable! Although I found it had too much bass and didnt gel with the overall frequency response, but I guess if it synergizes well you could get used to it! :)

The bass is accented and bit loose sounding for stationary use, but it ticks many other boxes for its class and price.

Even daphile with all the USB gimmicks doesn't beat out a good SPDIF transport. Even a $100 used pioneer LD player used as a CD player is an improvement.

I've been down this rabbit hole with my Lyra II. I personally found spinfits to be too bass forward with my ears and these IEM. I settled with Comply Isolation because they have the right balance for me. What tips do you prefer with the T20 so far?

I first tried the comply' s, biflanges and single flanges. I settled on the bass filters - smoother than the reference filters. Bass got too much though. I changed the size from S to M s ingleflanges and now sounds better. Still not as smooth/ refined as I would like, but for on the go...
