I'll open up a separate thread since nobody ever talks about them. I don't think these are worth 290€, but at 150€ these are a pretty darn nice set of closed-back headphones. Heck even at 290€ this ain't bad at all.

I agree with this. to me the custom cans ring is *just enough* to warrant not dicking around with damping material, and can play nicely with pad tuning choices. It's subtle enough to allow some other options. more knobs to fiddle rather than fewer knobs with larger affects.

Gotta agree with @zerodeefex, does take it to the next level. Custom cans mod is great if you overall like the 600 as is but want to slightly refine it and have more flexibility to adjust bass level. JAR ends up being different ballpark

It's a good phone for new / poor / cheap audiophiles who can do simple mods.

Yes it sucks. Hinge is the best I've tried so far. It learns your taste and gets progressively more intelligent, which is a little disturbing

UPDATE: hit up a bunch of bars with a language exchange group in Madrid. Got the phone number of a bunch (yes you heard right, several) cute woman. It went really well! Old school dating is still the best. Screw this online dating shit (idk, at least it didn't work for me that is).

I remember the SR treble and general clarity being a bit better but the XR bass and note weight more than making up for it.

hd650, utopia will tell you everything wrong and right with the latter. But it should scale more in the long term

Not to decry trying lots of gear and meeting lots of people. Yes, it is fun and interesting. It isn't necessary to buy it all if there are meets. I wouldn't have the 'phones I have now if it wasn't for a fellow member.
